Sociology is the study of people in groups. It provides each of us with an opportunity to view human behavior from the perspective of research on how humans interact with each other. Sociology provides us with the imagination (an ability) to explain human behavior as coming from types of people and individuals. It helps us to understand the roles that individuals play in a group and why those roles are sometimes explainable and understandable. Sociology offers each of us an opportunity to become people-smart through an understanding of human social interaction and it's impact on human outcomes. Sociology helps us to explain how societies operate and why people act the way they do.
